The Pan African Research on L10N Workshop & Localization “Blitz”, 24-27 of February 2007, Marrakesh, Morocco, brought together leading researchers and practitioners from across Africa to develop a joint research agenda.
The main outcome of that meeting was to start a process of reinforcing a network of partners to conduct applied research on localisation issues in Africa.
The main objectives of the workshop were:
- build a network of partners to conduct applied research on localisation issues in Africa;
- design a research agenda for l10n in Africa that may include policy analysis and advice, standardization efforts, technical and practical concerns, etc.;
- draft a proposal to IDRC for support of the network and research agenda;
- run a localization “blitz” to create a practical output useful for the PanAfrican Research on L10N Network and its local partners.
The ideas from this workshop where used to create a project proposal for the IDRC that lead to the Anloc network.
