| Nominated for the "Linguist of the Year" 2006 award |
|
[Inttranet has] great pleasure in informing you that you have been selected as one of the nominees for the Inttranet Linguist of the Year Awards for 2006. Nominees are selected in relation to the frequency and impact of their presence in the press worldwide during the year. These honorary citations by the members of the Inttranet, the global network of professional interpreters and translators, recognize the struggle - and sometimes the personal sacrifice - of linguists who have helped increase public awareness of the importance of linguists and languages during the year. Previous Inttranet Linguist of the Year Award winners include noteworthy linguists such as Noam Chomsky[2][3] (MIT), Alex Waibel (Carnegie Mellon), David Crystal (University of Wales), and organizations such as UNESCO. Further information on each of the nominees is available. Inttranet members have until 31 December to elect this year's winners. The awards will be announced in January 2007. |
